Frequently Asked Question
HIL IP address configuration
Last Updated 2 years ago
Each HIL device can have one or multiple IP addresses which may be used for different purposes:
- One IP address is used for establishing a connection between the HIL device and Typhoon HIL Control Center (e.g. SCADA).
By default, HIL devices are configured to try to acquire an IP address from the DHCP server (e.g. router). If DHCP communication fails, the HIL sets its default IP address to 192.168.42.200. Find out more about setting up an Ethernet connection in our documentation.
- Zero, one, or multiple IP addresses can be allocated for running non-real-time communication protocols. The desired IP address can be defined through component configuration in Schematic Editor.
- Up to one IP address can be used for real-time protocols. The desired IP address can be defined through component configuration in Schematic Editor.
More information about Ethernet ports on HIL devices and about the difference between non-real-time and real-time protocols can be found in this FAQ.
